Welcome To Ross Alexander.com
Welcome To Ross-Alexander.comThis is the official website for Ross Alexander, a singer/songwriter from Belfast Northern Ireland.“I pretty much didn’t feel ready to release an ‘album’ per se. I am a music fan of geek proportions, and to me ’Pet Sounds’ is an ‘album‘, ’Grace’ is an ‘album‘, ’Revolver’ is an ‘album‘, ’Dark Side Of The Moon’ is an ‘album‘ . . . so all of a sudden I felt really nervous and unworthy at the thought of proclaiming myself an artist who was releasing an album.”
7 Shades Of Something In Between is the debut EP from Ross Alexander. The EP is a subtle and eclectic mixture of varying styles, and it highlights an honest, talented, and raw approach to song writing. Some of the tracks have been carefully and meticulously recorded with huge production values, while other tracks capture a rare stripped down intimacy that lets you feel every nuance of a performance rather than just a recording.
Ross’ approach and crafting of the EP is an insight into his love of music, and his reluctance to call it an album reveals an artist struggling with conflicting opinions of his own work.
The EP’s title is an intriguing play on words which does its best to sum up the content and the author. ‘7’ is the symbolic number for ‘completion‘ or ‘perfection‘, while ’shades of something in between’ is an all out assault on that notion of completion.
“Yeah, I’m probably proud of the title more than anything else! It basically stems loosely from a line in a song that a friend of mine wrote a long time ago, and it sums everything up for me. When I was writing the material I felt aware that the songs were not comfortable bedfellows, and that there was possibly going to be a clash of sorts when it came to putting them on disc.
I also felt like a musical and spiritual nomad caught between several different genres, and torn between several different identities, with no desire to be a committed member of any of them. This is where the reluctance to call it an album comes in again, as I thought I could get away with more by calling it an EP. As it happens, when we got the songs to disc I was surprised as to how they actually did seem to fit, so maybe the real conflict is in my own self belief and my own estimation of the material. Whoa, that’s deep . . . ”
“How would I describe the EP? 7 Shades Of Something In Between is the sound of grief, pain, hope, loss, and love, built on the premise of an anticipated epiphany.”

"There Is A Light" album released. ______________
The compilation album "There Is A Light" is now officially available and can be purchased at Phoenix Records in Haymarket Arcade and will also soon be available here on the site via Paypal.
The album was brought about by the tragic death of Liam Braidner whose dad is one of Ross's closest friends, and all proceeds from the sale of the album will go to Mencap and Glenveagh Special School in Belfast which is the school Liam attended and loved. This is a fantastic collaboration between some great local talent including Roy Fulton, Siobhan Skates, and Warren Reid to name a few, and it is a great album. Ross wrote and recorded a song called "Liam" especially for the cd and the song will not be available anywhere else.
The cd will be priced at £8, every penny of which will go directly to Mencap and the school.
